Model citizen and deacon – robbery suspect

(CNN) — Bruce Windsor is known as many things: church deacon, soccer coach, father of four. But facing potential financial problems, he’s now known as something else: suspected bank robber.

The 43-year-old real estate company owner walked into the Carolina First Bank of Greenville, South Carolina, late Thursday afternoon wearing a mask and a handgun.

The court documents filed Friday says that Bruce forced two bank employees into an office at gunpoint while demanding money.

Police arrived minutes later while the suspect was still inside touching off a tense 90-minute standoff with hostage negotiators before he released the hostages and surrendering to Swat team officers at gunpoint.

During his initial appearance for a bond hearing, set at just above 1.5 million USD, his family and pastor stood by him for support.
